Although much has changed since 1823 when Foxcroft Academy became the first school chartered by the State of Maine, the Academy remains a unique and historic American independent secondary school. Today’s Academy is an effective blend of our distinguished past and our commitment to prepare young men and women for the challenges of the 21st century.

As a member school of the National Association of Independent Schools Foxcroft Academy is dedicated to meeting the needs of all its students. We offer a challenging college prepartory curriculum and an intensive support system for students with special academic needs.

Our environment is unique with both day students as well as a small boarding program for both national and international students. Our geographical location in north central Maine also offers numerous recreational and natural resources.

There is no typical student at the Academy; for over 180 years our democratic tradition has welcomed students from the widest variety of backgrounds. Our student body enjoys all the advantages of private education at a school that also serves students from many towns and villages of northern Maine. This mix enriches Academy life and provides boarders the opportunity to participate in a full array of curricular, extracurricular, and athletic offerings uncommon in small boarding schools.
