John Bapst Memorial High School - Bangor Maine ME.
A seventy-five year old, non-denominational, independent school, Bapst is a place with strong traditions and a loyal following. Bapst students work hard in school, on stages, playing fields, and in the greater community. Musicians, philosophers, athletes, mathematicians, writers - the list goes on - are all celebrated at Bapst. With approximately 470 young men and women enrolled, Bapst is small enough to be able to recognize the contributions of each of our students, yet large enough to be able to structure successfully orchestrated programs so that our students' interests and abilities can be explored and challenged. Our current student body includes representatives from almost fifty towns throughout the region, with each student bringing different experiences and ideas. All students have potential, and all students are valued.
Preparing for a competitive college admissions process is a key part of the work we do with students here at Bapst. Our students are often lauded for earning the highest scores on SATs and MEAs. The finest teaching faculty is a key part of this success. Equally important to academic success is helping students develop the skills and habits that will serve them well beyond their college and graduate school years. Through it all, however, a defining feature for us is that all of our students and their families have chosen to be a part of a thriving school community where curiosity, commitment, responsibility, and respect are the norm, not the exception. Though our growing website will certainly provide an introduction to our school for those who don't know us, a visit to campus is the best way to begin to understand Bapst. Witnessing Bapst students working with each other and with their teachers and the staff is the best way to get to know us. Our Step-Up Day, on February 6, 2007, is specially structured for those who might be considering our school for the following year. We'd love to have you join us.
