Currently our student body is
comprised of students from 17 Maine towns, 8 states, the Passamaquoddy tribe and
11 foreign countries. It is common to hear multiple languages being spoken as I
cross campus daily.
The 2006-2007 school year
promises to be a productive and exciting one. We are currently offering 6
Advanced Placement courses, two foreign languages, English as a second language,
technical education, and the full compliment of core academic courses. We have
also been able to expand our already outstanding fine arts program. We take
extreme pride in the fact that the classroom is the heart and soul of Lee
Academy.
As the headmaster I am
impressed daily by the quality of our student body. The character of these fine
young people is truly exceptional. Also our faculty and staff is truly
outstanding. The dedication that is displayed daily by these individuals
continues to amaze me.
LA continues to evolve as an
exceptional place to all involved. This past year we have seen our boarding
program expand to the point we had to expand our campus by two buildings. Both
the former Haskell store and the MacDonald house have been converted to living
space for our students. Both provide a "homelike" atmosphere for them. Also we
have been able to refurbish the
Mallett gym, the
dining hall, and the greenhouse.
