Marshwood High School
serves the two towns of Eliot and South Berwick which are rural and residential with small central business districts. The school is located approximately ten miles from Kittery, Maine, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and is part of rapidly growing southern Maine. The total district population is approximately 13,000.School
Marshwood High School
is accredited by the New England Association of School and Colleges, Inc., and the Maine Department of Education, and offers a comprehensive program of studies for approximately 870 students in grades 9 through 12. The new Marshwood High School facility opened in September, 1999. This complex is a creatively designed, technological state of the arts “Model School” for the new millennium.Curriculum
A traditional academic curriculum is accessible to all students, with eight (8) Advanced Placement courses in English Literature, English Language, Art History, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, United States History and Government & Politics; and thirteen (13) Honors courses in English I-III, World History, East Asian Studies, American Citizenship, US History, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Concept Physics, and Biology. All students are encouraged to take college courses at nearby institutions. College preparatory/Occu-prep courses are offered in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Three (3) World Languages, (French I-IV, Spanish I-IV and Latin I-IV) are available. Courses in Technology, Family and Consumer Science, Fine Arts, Physical Education/Health, Health Occupations and LAN/WAN (CISCO) Technologies are available at Marshwood, with full career-tech programs at Career-Technical Centers in Sanford, North Berwick, Maine, and Dover, and Somersworth, New Hampshire.
