learning styles and abilities, we will offer a rigorous curriculum to help
students meet the challenges of an increasingly complex society. Using a variety

prepare out students to become responsible members of the world community.

With the help of the community, Mount View High School will
*maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
*set high standards to optimize student growth.
*provide appropriate academic programs including alternative education programs
for at-risk and highly motivated students in order to minimize the dropout rate
and prepare students for a range of post secondary options.
*recognize, celebrate, and publicize student, faculty, and school
accomplishments.
*promote student participation in extra-curricular activities to encourage
personal growth and to help build a sense of community.
*provide opportunities for faculty growth, intra- and inter-school
communication, and professional development.
*recognize various learning styles and incorporate a diversity of teaching
methods to accommodate them.
*treat others with respect and courtesy.
*recognize and respect cultural, ethnic, religious and individual diversity.

I. Academic Information.
Academic Achievement
The basis for academic achievement is the teacher’s evaluation of the quality of
the student’s performance in a subject. A student must achieve a rank of at
least 70 (D) in order to receive credit for that subject.
A 100-93 D 75-70
B 92-85 E is below 70
C 84-76 I incomplete
Effort/Attitude
Teachers evaluate many criteria when measuring the quality of a student’s work.
Each 9 week academic grade report may include comments relative to student
effort, attitude, and behavior.
Credits, Make-Up
Students who fail classes and choose to make up credits by means of summer
school, tutoring, adult education, or the SOS Program should be aware that prior
approval by the high school administration/guidance is necessary.
The following guidelines are in place for make-up credits:
-To be eligible to use one of these make-up options, students must have received
a minimum grade of 50 for the year or have the recommendation of their teacher.
-Correspondence courses will not be allowed for make-up credit.
-Students will only be allowed two alternative make-up credits per subject area
with a maximum total of four.
-The maximum number of English classes that can be taken in one school year is
two and those English classes should be sequential.
These guidelines must be followed in order for students to receive a Mount View
High School diploma and to march with their class. Any variation from the above
guidelines is subject to the prior approval of administration and or the Student
Assistance Team (SAT). Please make sure to talk to your guidance counselor if
you need more information about make-up options.
